چکیده
Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders. as second burdensome neurologic disorder worldwide in terms disability-adjusted life years. Copper (Cu) involved a number enzymes with catalase and oxidase-type reactions. This study aimed to identify role serum copper etiology epilepsy its response treatment Methods: prospective case controlled that was conducted on patients attending Outpatient Neurology Clinic those admitted Pediatric Department at Benha University Hospital Children Hospital. who participate this were classified into two groups; Group I: 60 children epilepsy. II: controls. Serum measured. Results: showed significantly higher level epileptic cases when compared control groups (P=0.002). intractable subgroups (p=0.035).Conclusion: Higher cupper levels associated suggested be independent risk predictors susceptibility.

OBJECTIVE Trace elements such as zinc and copper have physiological effects on neuronal excitability that may play a role in the etiology of intractable epilepsy. This topic has been rarely discussed in Iranian epileptic patients. This study with the analysis of serum zinc and copper levels of children and adolescents with intractable and controlled epilepsy may identifies the potential role of...
متن کاملSerum zinc and copper levels in children with febrile convulsion
Febrile convulsions (FC) are the most common neurologic disorder in children 6-60 months of age. Zinc (Zn) and copper (Cu) play role as cofactors in more than 300 enzymatic activities significantly. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship serum levels of Zn and Cu with seizure occurrence in febrile children. In this case-control study, 270 children with 6 month to 6 years were ev...
